REPORTS TO:  VP & CFO

 

POSITION SUMMARY

·         Participates in strategic planning for the department through active participation with the Pharmacy Management Team

·         Integrates and implements Hospital/Pharmacy Services mission/vision, initiatives, and policy within areas or responsibility

·         Responsible for the pharmacy services provided for the site, leading the medication management system, and providing leadership and input into regional initiatives. 

·         Develops and maintains effective human resource plans, identifies recruitment/retention issues and develops strategies to address issues. 

·         Develops principles for staff training & orientation to be implemented by the Pharmacy Management team.

·         Interprets program goals into individual performance objectives and maintains a high level of staff performance through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and coaching processes.

·         Participates in the management and resolution of staff and labour relations issues in collaboration with Human Resources.

·         Implements program policies/procedures and standards of pharmacy practice and patient care, evaluates outcomes and monitors practices for compliance with established standards.

·         Leads or participates on site/program committees/working groups to review and develop new standards, program/site policies and processes, resolve issues and plan for new initiatives.

·         Monitors operations of the site and identifies and resolves issues related to budget, workload, staff resources, minor and capital equipment purchases, and space allocation.  Identifies trends and variances and recommends strategies to achieve cost efficiencies.

·         Establishes required policies/procedures/ protocols and monitoring compliance; providing feedback to individuals as required.  Decisions are guided by code of ethics and practice standards

·         Facilitates communication between Pharmacy Services & programs on sites.

·         Working closely with other members of the Pharmacy Management team participates in the review of the distribution process and implements current standards.

·         Improves the quality of care, levels of satisfaction for patients and staff, and the cost effectiveness of resource utilization.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A)

·         Five years of experience in the delivery of institutional pharmacy services.

·         Two to three years of supervisory experience and project management experience is an asset.

·         Satisfactory attendance.

·         Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to make presentations.

·         Ability to effectively lead and coordinate pharmacists and project teams.

·         Ability to search and evaluate medical literature to make patient-specific recommendations, provide drug information to health professionals, and support policies and standardized care plans.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other health professionals and committees.

·         Ability to deal effectively with others in a multidisciplinary environment.

·         Ability to plan, implement, organize, problem-solve, and manage projects.

·         Ability to mentor and foster professional development for other health professionals.

·         Demonstrated commitment to Patient and Family Centred Care philosophy and Service Excellence

·         Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.

·         Demonstrated performance reflecting the  Mission, Vision, Values  and Code of Conduct  of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
