Interim Chief Executive Officer Appointed at CKHA
CHATHAM-KENT -- With Ken Tremblay’s appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Peterborough Regional Health Centre in February, CKHA’s Tri-Board of Directors today announce the appointment of an Interim President/CEO.
Effective January 1st, 2010, Shona Elliott, currently Vice-President/Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), will be responsible for ensuring continued operational success on a day-to-day basis until such time as the new CEO is appointed.
Speaking on behalf of the Tri-Board of Directors, Chair Jennifer Wilson said, “Shona brings into this role 7 years experience at the Alliance and we are confident that her insight and expertise will serve the organization well during this transition.”
The search for CKHA’s next President/CEO is progressing well, Wilson confirmed. The CEO Search Committee is comprised of 9 people: Board Chairs, Vice-Chairs, the Chief of Staff, the Vice-President/CFO, and the Vice-President/CHRO. The committee issued a Request for Proposal and, from responses and interviews, has chosen Odgers Berndtson, one of Canada’s largest global executive search firms. Odgers Berndtson specializes in assisting hospitals, not-for-profit organizations, foundations and other health care organizations with their CEO and Senior Executive recruiting needs. They have previously worked with large, full-service community hospitals, teaching hospitals, and small primary and secondary care hospitals throughout Ontario and across Canada.
Wilson noted that Ken Tremblay has made significant contributions to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance over the last six years. Highlights include raising the bar on performance and financial accountability, sponsoring new approaches to strategic planning, achieving Top 100 Employer in Canada designation for two consecutive years, installing new technologies including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and assisting with the recruitment of additional physicians. He has also been actively involved in the community - with the Municipality’s Community Strategic Planning Committee, Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrators Group, Rotary Club, and the arts.
“Our thanks and appreciation go out to Ken for his contributions to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the community during his tenure here.” said Wilson.
