January 30, 2008
At last night’s meeting of the Tri-Board of St. Joseph’s, Public General and Sydenham District Hospitals, Directors:
- Received an overview from its Finance Audit & Resources Committee on clinical activity levels, noting CKHA is meeting wait time targets for cataract procedures and hip and knee joint replacements.
- Noted a new linkage between St. Clair College, CKHA and CHIS (Consolidated Health Information Services). The partnership allows College students, who will be at CKHA for their nursing practicum experience, to have advance training on the hospital’s computer systems remotely from the College’s computer lab.
- Heard that CKHA has recently attracted 15 new graduate nurses (RNs and RPNs) with five more starting in February, with new nursing graduate funding.
- Congratulated Jacquie Logan-Stephens, CKHA’s Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Health Professions Officer, on her 3-year appointment to McKesson’s Nursing Advisory Council. Council provides a forum for a select group of nursing leaders to ensure that ‘real world’ nursing goals and issues are considered in McKesson’s clinical strategy and development decisions. CKHA is the first Canadian organization represented on Council.
