At last night’s meeting of the Tri-Board of St. Joseph’s, Public General and Sydenham District Hospitals, Directors:
-
Noted CKHA’s new Visiting Policy which encourages patients’ involvement in communicating their individual preferences regarding family, family presence and participation in care. Visitors are welcomed from 2 pm and 8 pm at the discretion of the patient’s wishes and preferences. Family, as defined by the patient, is welcomed at any time of day (or additional information, please see News Release of February 17, 2010).
-
Heard that the Cardiovascular Awareness program has increased clinics to include the First Nations community at Walpole Island, and to the Family Health Team in Tilbury offering stroke risk assessment and hypertension.
-
Were updated on the work of its Mission & Quality Committee including review of its regular quality/performance reports.
-
Discussed opportunities to retain and grow marketshare / volumes for CKHA services. Administration will conduct a marketshare analysis and develop a marketing strategy for Tri-Board review in the coming months.
-
Supported attendance at CKHA’s Patient & Family Centred Care (PFCC) orientation, now being offered to all staff, physicians and volunteers. PFCC is a strategic priority of CKHA.
-
Received the monthly report from its Finance, Audit & Resources Committee including financial statements ending January 31, 2010. Based on the first 10 months operations, the projected deficit to year end (March 31) is approximately $1.4 M. Directors acknowledged that with continued delays in Government funding announcements, the ESC LHIN is asking hospitals to sign extensions of their current Hospital Services Accountability Agreements.
-
Received the monthly report from its Governance Committee noting planned participation in the Qmentum Sustainable Governance Self-Assessment. This is a structured process that helps organizations assess their current governance performance against national, evidence-based standards. The assessment will result in a road map to help the Tri-Board develop and prioritize its quality improvement activities.
-
Congratulated the Foundation of CKHA on its successful Dancing for the Stars event which raised $20,000, thanks to generous support from sponsors, attendees, and local physician participants. Dr. Wendy Edwards earned the coveted title, and Dr. David Sullivan earned the People’s Choice award.
