Goverance

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is governed by an Alliance Agreement between three hospital corporations - Public General Hospital Society of Chatham, St. Joseph’s Health Services Association of Chatham, and Sydenham District Hospital. The governance structure is comprised of three individual corporate Boards of Directors representing the founding hospital corporations, functioning as a Tri-Board, to serve the best interests of CKHA and hospital-based healthcare delivery to the Chatham-Kent municipality.

If you are interested in being considered for a governance role on the Tri-Board, please review this form and contact Mrs. Nick Brownlee, Governance Co-ordinator, to obtain further information including a description of director responsibilities and expectations, policies related to confidentiality and conflict of interest, and description of the Tri-Board governance structure.

A Joint Nominating Committee evaluates the candidacy of nominee applicants on the basis of competencies, knowledge, past governance experience and interests in health care. It takes into consideration the specific attributes that the Boards will need over the next several years to fulfill the Alliance’s strategic directions and plans.

Applications are welcome throughout the year but a submission deadline is generally published in March in order to allow for the necessary interviews and selection process to occur in advance of the annual general meetings which typically occur in June.

"Each corporation’s by-laws are specific on the guidelines and criteria for the Joint Nominating Committee to use in selecting nominees for election. All nominations must come through the Nominating Committee of each respective Board in order to be presented at the Annual General Meeting. Because there is an open advertisement calling for potential candidates, nominations from the floor at the Annual General Meetings are not permitted."
