Nutritional Services (Dietary)
Department Overview
Nutritional services provides high quality food and nutritional counseling to patients as an essential and integral part of patient care. The department is responsible for the delivery of food carts and for the cleaning of dirty dishes. Each campus have a cafeteria that is staffed and managed by nutritional services. This department provides catering for meetings and events.
Co-op Student Task Assignments
- Understanding of the kitchen operations and the role of each team member within the operation.
- Tray assembly, delivery, production and receiving.
- Understanding basic diets.
- Understanding alternate feeding methods (i.e. tube feedings).
- Catering and cafeteria operations.
- Rinsing dishes and placing in dishwasher.
- Cleaning sinks and counters.
- Delivery and retrieval of food, dishes, glass-wear and baby bottles.
- Handling of frozen food storage.
Student Attributes
- Desire to pursue a career in Nutritional services, Dietitian etc.
- Able to lift maximum of ten pounds.
- Physically able to stand, walk for long periods, pushing and pulling carts and large grocery racks.
- Interested in nutrition, food service supervision or retail food administration.
- Must be clean and neat in appearance.
- Show initiative.
- Possess good organizational skills.
- Cheerful nature and positive outlook.
Please note:
Privacy Policy: The co-op student will be expected to respect the privacy of our patients and keep any information regarding our patients and their families strictly confidential.
Personal Appearance Policy: The co-op student will be expected to be well groomed with minimal jewelry and make-up. Hair should be short or neatly tied back. The proper attire would be a uniform such as scrub uniform and clean white running shoes. CKHA is a fragrance free work environment, perfume and scented products are not allowed.
