Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Celebrates National Volunteer Week April 10 - 16, 2016

CHATHAM-KENT: April 15, 2016 -- Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) proudly recognizes the exceptional work done by the organization’s 400-plus volunteers in celebration of National Volunteer Week. 
During the week, CKHA volunteers enjoyed many thank-yous, treats, door prizes donated by staff and physicians, and letters of congratulations from Colin Patey, President & Chief Executive Officer. Family members of CKHA volunteers also received personal letters of thanks. National Volunteer Week is an opportunity for volunteers to network with peers and engage the community on the importance of volunteering.

 On April 12, 2016, three CKHA In-service, two Auxiliary members and two Youth volunteers were awarded Ontario Service Awards at a ceremony held at the Capitol Theatre in Chatham. These awards (certificates and pins) are bestowed by the Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade annually to recognize years of service. CKHA recipients are: Georgina Lacina (20 years), Fran Banks (15 years), Lila Babcock (15 years), Geetha Samy (2 years Youth) Liyana Kukkadi (2 years Youth), Pat Cavanagh (30 years Auxiliary), and Mari Cole (20 years Auxiliary).
CKHA’s Volunteer Resource Specialist, Chene Faulkner, said, “CKHA benefits from the contributions of over 400 volunteers.  From the boardroom to the bedside, these talented and kind individuals exemplify the hospital’s values of trust, teamwork, respect, accountability, compassion and knowledge.” She added, “CKHA In-Service volunteers provided over 26,000 hours of service in the past fiscal year. Our volunteers are exceptional and extraordinary people!”
Current volunteer opportunities at CKHA’s Chatham Campus exist in the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care, Patient Advisors, Information Desk and Boutique Grand Gift Shop.
