Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Promotes Canadian Patient Safety Week 2015 October 26 – 30, 2015

CHATHAM-KENT: October 23, 2015 -- Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is proud to endorse Canadian Patient Safety Week, October 26 – 30, 2015. Along with the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI), we are spreading the message to ASK. LISTEN. TALK.
Together, we are creating a safer healthcare system for all Canadians by bringing awareness to the importance of patient safety. Each person’s involvement helps to make the Canadian healthcare system safer.  This year’s theme will focus on the importance of communication between patients and providers in achieving a safer healthcare experience.
The week at CKHA will include an Observation Lab – a simulated patient room where staff can test their Safety IQ, Patient Safety Week Leader huddles across clinical units sharing patient stories about team communication and discussing safe handovers, and patient experience advisors rounding with patients to share communication tips with ‘5 Tips to Get You Talking’ handouts.
A patient safety workshop for CKHA leaders is scheduled for November led by Dr. Amir Ginzburg, Chief, Quality and Medical Director, Trillium Health Partners. The Patient Safety Award nomination and presentation will take place in spring 2016.
