Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's Strategic Plan First Year is on Target

CHATHAM-KENT: June 18, 2015 -- As with all organizations, the Strategic Plan guides the organization's focus and operations throughout its existence. This year, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is pleased to share its 'Year 1 Update' with the community. The document outlines how the organization operationalized its plan as well as how it is tracking against its strategic directions. The report also offers specific examples of actions put in place throughout the organization to support the plan.

"The Strategic Plan is an important responsibility of the Board. The Strategic Plan microsite and the Year 1 Update are testimony to our commitment for transparent and effective leadership," shared Brenda Richardson, Chair, Alliance Board of Directors. "We are pleased to add our governance renewal journey to this iteration of the plan as it represents the Board's commitment to our staff, physicians, volunteers, patients and community that as stewards of the organization, we know that we must keep pace with the changing healthcare system and operational excellence of our team - work that is currently underway."

In 2014, CKHA committed to its mission, vision and values as well as its four existing pillars of patients, people, innovation and performance. One change was to embed the role of governance directly into the plan to demonstrate the board's commitment to provide the Alliance with the leadership, insight and oversight to embody its mission and deliver on its vision.

"The Year 1 Update demonstrates that we remain steadfast in our resolve to constantly challenge ourselves to be the exceptional community hospital our patients and community deserve," said Colin Patey, President & CEO. "We are proud of the many examples this document showcases of how our team - across the Alliance, from the board to the bedside - is driving our organization forward."

While the plan for 2014-2017 has a familiar framework, it offers new directions and goals, developed in response to feedback from the engagement process and information gathered through the environmental scan and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) processes.
