CKHA Opens Doors to Colleagues with Nursing Job Fair

CHATHAM-KENT: February 26, 2015 -- Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is hosting a Nursing Job Fair on Wednesday, March 4 from 1 pm to 5 pm in the Frank and Mary Uniac Auditorium, located at the Chatham Campus (80 Grand Avenue West). Nurses from across Southwestern Ontario are invited to visit CKHA to meet representatives of the clinical management and professional practice teams, enjoy refreshments, view displays and presentations, and enter prize draws. Employment opportunities are available. Interested candidates are encouraged to visit CKHA's website, www.ckha.on.ca, under careers and submit an online application under future opportunities.

"Whether you are looking to start your career or make a career change, we invite nursing professionals to come and explore career opportunities that may be available now and in the future at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance," said Willi Kirenko, Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive. "We are excited to host this necessary event and look forward to meeting potential candidates and talk about our programs. Attendees will see and hear how CKHA has an excellent reputation as an employer of choice among healthcare professionals."

We believe our organization exemplifies the vision to be 'an exceptional community hospital' and have a reputation for promoting service excellence and patient and family centred care which professional staff would find a good fit with their values," she added.

CKHA is currently accepting applications for Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Nurse Practitioners within many of its core programs including Emergency, Intensive Care Unit, Medicine, Surgical/OR, Women & Children's Health, Mental Health & Addictions, Rehabilitation and Complex Continuing Care.

CKHA Recruitment Specialist, Cheryl Deneau, explains the need for recruitment. "We have a number of professional staff eligible for retirement in the next 5+ years and we want to position ourselves for those potential retirements in addition to fulfilling our immediate program needs. We have had great success in a more personalized approach to recruitment. Inviting professionals into our work environment and giving them the opportunity to speak to our staff offers a firsthand experience of our culture and information about what we have to offer."

Registration is not required. Please bring your parking ticket so it can be validated at the job fair. Off-site parking cannot be validated. Parking is available at the Pegley Court lot (located slightly further from the building, along the riverfront), Visitor Lot C (nearest to the front door and main lobby) and the lot at 47 Emma Street (Administrative Building).

CKHA is a 200+ bed community hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and technologies. Formed in 1998, CKHA is committed to core service excellence, top-flight operational performance and to becoming a facility of choice in Southwestern Ontario. With campuses in Chatham and Wallaceburg, CKHA is designated a schedule one facility under the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and cares for tens of thousands of inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients annually.
