The Process

CKHA would like to thank everyone who participated
in the planning process to deliver the
2018-2021 Strategic Plan.

At CKHA we are always working to improve our understanding of the local community and the people who access our services. We believe that the more we engage the populations we serve, the better the quality of the healthcare that we can deliver to the people of Chatham and Rural Kent.

That is why we worked hard to identify and engage the diverse populations we serve and organizations we partner with through an inclusive planning process.

To inform our Strategic Plan we hosted four Community Engagement sessions in Wallaceburg, Chatham, Ridgetown and Tilbury, and asked for feedback from staff, physicians and volunteers during engagement sessions at both sites, at Council and Committee meetings, and through feedback channels for staff in every unit or department across the organization. This feedback has been integral to the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan and ensures we are putting the views of the community, patients, families, staff, physicians and volunteers at the centre of our decision making.

Below are snapshots of our Community Engagement sessions and initial engagement sessions, and the valuable feedback we received.

What We Uncovered:
The Creation of Patient Exemplars

During the Strategic Planning Process, WeRCKHA – a group that consists of CKHA staff, physicians and volunteers, the CKHA Patient Experience Community Advisory Council and the Rural Health Advisory Committee – created 14 Patient Exemplars.

These Patient Exemplars represent fictional stories reflective of localized healthcare issues that patients face as they access CKHA’s seven programs. Our Patient Exemplars were used to guide the development of our Strategic Plan. The goals and objectives set out in the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan aim to address the issues identified in these stories and improve the patient experience at CKHA.

You can explore our Patient Exemplars and how they relate to our 2018-2021 Strategic Plan by expanding the headers below.
