Best Practice Spotlight Organization

Best Practice Spotlight Organization

In 2009, CKHA received its designation as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO), from the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO).

Who is the RNAO?

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is the professional association representing registered nurses, nurse practitioners and nursing students in Ontario.  Since 1925, RNAO has advocated for healthy public policy, promoted excellence in nursing practice, increased nurses’ contribution to shaping the health care system, and influenced decisions that affect nurses and the public they serve.  To learn more about the RNAO, visit their website at https://rnao.ca/

What is a BPSO?

Best Practice Spotlight Organizations (BPSOs) are health care and academic organizations selected by the RNAO, who have demonstrated excellence in implementing and evaluating the RNAO’s best practice guidelines (BPGs).

What is a Best Practice Guideline?

Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs) are research and evidence based tools that assist organizations and nurses to provide high quality of care to our patients so they can have the best possible outcomes.   Currently the RNAO has published 50 BPGs and CKHA has implemented several of them!

Why is the BPSO Designation Important?

The BPSO designation marks our organization as one striving to create and maintain a culture of excellence within Canadian health care by embedding evidence into daily nursing practice.  It is a dynamic partnership between our organization and the RNAO that focuses on making a positive impact on patient care though evidence-based practice.  This designation highlights the outstanding guideline work that CKHA has carried out, and demonstrates our capacity to continue to build on our achievements.
