Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Welcomes Emergency Medicine Resident
CHATHAM-KENT: September 14, 2020 – Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew Renaud, Emergency Medicine Resident to the organization. Dr. Renaud began his one-year residency in July as part of Western University’s Canadian College of Family Physicians – Emergency Medicine Program (CCFP-EM). The CCFP-EM Program provides an enhanced skills experience to Family Medicine graduates through training in higher acuity Emergency Medicine. Emergency Medicine Residents at CKHA work alongside the organization’s Emergency Medicine Physicians who provide support and direction to complete this additional year of hands-on high acuity training.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Renaud to CKHA. This is an exciting new venture for us to provide specialized high acuity training for Family Medicine graduates who wish to pursue this path,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, CKHA. “Dr. Renaud is a welcome addition to our Emergency Department.”
Originally from Harrow, Ontario, Dr. Renaud earned his Bachelor of Medical Sciences from Western University in 2014. Following that, he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2018 and completed his Family Medicine Residency in 2020 both at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. His interests include hiking, travel, guitar and the Detroit Lions.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know and giving back to the great people of Chatham-Kent. I’m also excited to work alongside, and learn from, the great team at CKHA and seeing everything the community has to offer,” said Dr. Renaud.
Dr. Shawn Segeren, Family and Emergency Medicine Physician at CKHA, was instrumental in bringing the CCFP-EM Program to Chatham-Kent. Dr. Segeren completed his Family Medicine Residency in Chatham-Kent in 2018 and his additional year of training in the CCFP-EM Program in 2019.
