Code Grey Called at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Site
CHATHAM-KENT: March 28, 2023 — Earlier today, the water supply at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) Chatham Site and surrounding area was shut off due to work performed by the Municipality. Due to this work, the Chatham Site, 47 Emma building and CKHA Foundation office are currently under a Code Grey. A Code Grey is initiated following the loss of a critical system (i.e. electricity, water, heating, medical gas, communications, ransomware, information technology etc.) or any intervention measures that may pose a health and safety risk to those in the hospital.
CKHA is monitoring the situation and working closely with Municipal officials during this time. CKHA has put measures in place throughout the hospital to ensure a safe water supply for its patients, visitors, staff, physicians and volunteers; this includes procuring bottled water for drinking, signage, and ongoing Code Grey overhead pages.
All services and programs continue to be in full operation, including the Emergency Department.
The safety of patients, visitors, staff, physicians and volunteers remains the priority. Further updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
CKHA is reminding the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care. If you are experiencing an emergent acute care need, please do not hesitate to dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.
