COVID-19 Outbreak Declared on Complex Continuing Care Unit (4th Floor) and COVID-19 Outbreak on Medicine Unit Declared Over
CHATHAM-KENT: January 9, 2023 – As of January 9, 2023, 7 cases of health-care acquired COVID-19 were identified on Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Unit (4th Floor) located at the Chatham Site. As such, CK Public Health has formally declared the CCC 4th Floor Unit to be in outbreak. The COVID-19 outbreaks on CKHA’s Medicine A and B units declared on December 30, 2022, are now both declared over. The Rehabilitation Unit at the Chatham Site remains in active outbreak.
CK Public Health will work closely with CKHA to manage the outbreak within the CCC 4th Floor Unit and will continue to work in consultation until the outbreak is declared over.
As part of CKHA’s pandemic response action plan and in alignment with the hospital’s infection prevention and control guidelines, a number of additional initiatives have been implemented in response to the outbreak on the CCC 4th Floor Unit. CKHA will continue following these measures until CK Public Health rescinds the outbreak order.
CKHA is reminding the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care. If you are experiencing an emergent acute care need, please do not hesitate to dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
