Bone Mineral Density

Bone mineral density (BMD) is a measurement that reflects the amount of mineral (mostly calcium and phosphorus) present in your bones. This is important because bone strength and health depend largely on mineral content. BMD tests are used to assess bone strength and diagnose conditions like osteoporosis or osteopenia, which increase fracture risk.  BMD uses low-dose X-rays to measure bone density in areas like the spine, hip, or forearm.
