Diagnostic Imaging

Mammography

A mammogram is an image of the breast created by using a dedicated low dose x-ray machine. Images are taken of your breast while it is compressed between two plates for several seconds. This compression is required to produce accurate images for reporting and our technologists will work with you to keep you as comfortable as possible while still achieving the best images we can.

A mammogram is performed either as a screening for those with no symptoms or as a diagnostic work up for those with symptoms or abnormal findings. If you are between the ages of 40-74, symptom free with no prior history of breast cancer, you can book your own mammogram through the Ontario Breast Screening Program. To do so, click here.

Please Note:If you have breast implants or cannot stand for 15 minutes without a break, call the Patient Appointment Office at (519) 437-6089 so we can adjust your appointment.
